Scott Mackenzie DTX G2 Shooting Head Intermediate Line£54.99 £50.00
The new DTX Generation 2 Shooting heads have been designed like no other on the market today.
The Mackenzie design team have taken the G2 Shooting Head to a new level by ascertaining what it is that anglers are looking for in a shooting head. By utilising the experience of Scott and the design team we have created a range of heads that surpass any other in terms of balance, stability and performance.
From the outset, the brief at Mackenzie was to create a new range of products that would lead the way forward, rather than just following current trends or other brands.
The G2 heads are slightly longer than most, allowing for longer, more stable flight and ease of anchor placement, particularly for those casters moving to shooting heads from full Spey lines.
One issue with a lot of shooting heads is that they are unstable in flight, they often tend to land back end first rather than drop in level and wobble on the point of turnover leading to poor and sometimes unpredictable presentation.
This is a result of the weight distribution within the head and a practically non-existent rear taper.
Efficient Spey casting requires a rear weighted profile and comparatively fine tip. However, this is not the recipe for long and stable flight or effective presentation of anything other than light leaders and small flies.
Our new G2 heads are cleverly tapered to give a balance between ease of casting, stable flight, and positive controllable turnover. They feature a lengthened rear taper and more even distribution of mass for smooth easy casting, predictable presentation in all conditions and excellent turnover of poly-leaders.
All DTX G2 Shooting heads are built with low stretch core, giving the best possible transition of power between the rod tip and the line, which helps with hook setting at range.
Our new range of lines also feature small welded loops at each end allowing anglers to change heads or leaders quickly and easily whilst on the water.
The rear loop is stamped with the head weight and density for easy identification.
For each product we ship, the delivery cost is charged at the market rate for that weight and size of shipment from Grantown-On-Spey. We use the most efficient Royal Mail service we can depending on the item being shipped.
